Conservation of Ecological Heritage and Sacred Sites of India

  As part of BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week 2026, the CPREEC EIACP PC-RP, Chennai organised a Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) awareness programme on the theme “Adopt Sustainable Food System - Millets” at Chennai High School, Bheemanna Garden, Alwarpet, Chennai on 4th November 2026. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about sustainable food systems and the significance of millets in ensuring food security and environmental sustainability. The session focused on the nutritional value of millets, their low water requirement, and their role in reducing carbon footprint compared to conventional cereals. A total of 65 students and 5 teachers actively participated and shared their understanding of traditional food practices. Awareness materials on millets and sustainable lifestyle were distributed. The programme ended with students taking the Mission LiFE pledge to adopt sustainable food systems and encourage the use of millets at home and school.
